Quick answer
What is a mommy makeover?
A mommy makeover, also called a mummy makeover, is a combination of procedures that addresses changes after pregnancy, usually a tummy tuck with breast augmentation, a breast lift or both, often with liposuction. A mommy makeover in Turkey usually takes 3–6 hours under general anaesthesia, typically with 1–2 nights in hospital and about 10–14 days in Istanbul.

Mommy Makeover in Istanbul: overview
A mommy makeover, or mummy makeover, is not a single operation but a plan that combines procedures to address changes after pregnancy and breastfeeding: usually a tummy tuck to remove loose skin and repair separated stomach muscles, breast surgery such as augmentation or a lift, and often liposuction. For a mommy makeover in Turkey, Med World Türkiye coordinates your treatment with independent, licensed partner plastic surgeons who operate in JCI-accredited partner hospitals in Istanbul. Before you travel, a partner surgeon reviews your photos, pregnancy and weight history and medical history and suggests which procedures are likely to suit you, and whether to do them together or in stages.
Combining procedures means one trip and one main recovery, but it also makes surgery longer and recovery harder than any one of the procedures alone. Longer operations raise the risk of blood clots, wound-healing problems and other complications, so surgeons limit the total operating time and may recommend two separate stages. Expect several weeks in compression garments and a support bra, scars on the lower abdomen and breasts that fade gradually, and the need for help at home, especially with young children. We organise the surrounding logistics – airport transfers, a hotel near the hospital, an interpreter and remote aftercare follow-up – so you can focus on recovery.

Which Mommy Makeover techniques are available?
Tummy tuck with muscle repair
The tummy tuck is usually the core of a mommy makeover. Through a low incision, usually hidden by underwear, the surgeon removes loose skin and excess fat and often repairs stomach muscles separated during pregnancy (diastasis recti). Depending on the amount of loose skin, this may be a mini, full or extended tummy tuck; stretch marks are only removed where that skin is cut away.
Breast augmentation, lift or both
After breastfeeding, breasts often lose volume or sag. Implants or fat transfer restore volume, a breast lift (mastopexy) removes excess skin and raises the nipple, and some women need both, or a breast reduction instead. A lift adds scars around the areola and often down to the crease, and the written quote names any implant brand and type.
Liposuction of the flanks and other areas
Liposuction is often added to refine the waist, flanks, back or thighs around the tummy tuck. Each added area makes the operation longer and recovery more demanding, and surgeons limit how much fat they remove alongside a tummy tuck. Removed fat can sometimes be used for fat transfer to the breasts, if your surgeon thinks it suits you.
One operation or two stages
Doing everything in one operation means one anaesthetic and one main recovery, but a long operation carries more risk of blood clots and other complications. Surgeons therefore limit the total operating time, and many recommend two stages, for example the abdomen first and the breasts some months later. Your health, weight and the procedures involved decide which is safer for you.
Not sure which option suits you?
Send your photos, scans or reports. A partner specialist reviews them and you receive a written plan and quote before you book anything.
Why choose Med World Türkiye for Mommy Makeover?
Surgeon review before you travel
A partner plastic surgeon reviews your photos and medical history and suggests which procedures to combine, and whether one operation or two stages is safer for you, before you book.
JCI-accredited partner hospitals
Surgery and your hospital nights take place in JCI-accredited partner hospitals, under general anaesthesia given by an anaesthetist, with blood-clot prevention for longer operations.
Itemised written quote
The written quote from the partner hospital lists each procedure, any implant brand and type, hospital nights and compression garments before you book, so you can see exactly what is and is not included.
One coordinated plan and aftercare
One coordinator arranges the consultation, surgery, hotel and transfers, and after you fly home passes your photos and questions to the partner surgeon for follow-up.
Who is a good candidate for Mommy Makeover?
- Mothers with loose abdominal skin, separated stomach muscles or breast changes after pregnancy and breastfeeding that have not improved with diet and exercise.
- Women who have finished having children, as a future pregnancy can stretch the skin and muscles again and change the breasts.
- People whose weight has been stable for some months and who are close to their goal weight, and who have waited after the last pregnancy and the end of breastfeeding for as long as the surgeon advises.
- Non-smokers, or smokers able to stop before and after surgery for as long as the surgeon advises, who can arrange help at home with children and lifting for several weeks.
- Surgery is not a good idea if you plan more pregnancies, are still losing weight, have uncontrolled diabetes or heart or lung disease, have a history of blood clots that has not been assessed, or have an uninvestigated breast lump or abnormal screening result.
Mommy Makeover: is it right for me?
Questions people ask us in their own words, with straight answers.
My youngest is 18 months and I stopped breastfeeding three months ago. Is it too soon for a mommy makeover?
It may be a little early, but it depends on how your body has settled. Surgeons usually ask you to wait for some months after the last pregnancy and after breastfeeding ends, because breast size and shape, skin and weight keep changing for a while. Your weight should also be stable and close to your goal, and you should have finished having children. Send recent photos of your abdomen and breasts, the dates of your last pregnancy and of stopping breastfeeding, and your weight history. A partner surgeon can then tell you whether to go ahead now or when to plan it.
I’m 33 and not completely sure we’re finished having children. Should I wait for a mommy makeover, or just do my tummy now?
Usually it is better to wait. A future pregnancy can stretch the abdominal skin again and undo the repair of separated stomach muscles, so a tummy tuck done now could need revising later. Pregnancy after a tummy tuck is usually possible, but the result is likely to change. Breasts also change again with pregnancy and breastfeeding. Surgery is not a good idea while you still plan more pregnancies, so tell the surgeon honestly about your plans. They can explain what, if anything, makes sense now and what is better left until your family is complete.
Can I bring my kids with me to Istanbul for my mommy makeover, or is it better if they stay at home?
It is usually easier if they stay at home, but some families travel together. For at least 6 weeks you should avoid lifting anything heavy, including young children, and the first days are spent in hospital and then resting at the hotel. If the children come, bring another adult whose only job is to look after them, and plan for about 10–14 days in Istanbul. Your coordinator can arrange suitable hotel rooms and transfers for the family. Either way, arrange help at home for the weeks after you return, as recovery takes time.
How do I know which breast implant brand they’ll use and that it’s a genuine, approved one? I want to be sure before I book.
Ask before you book. The written quote from the partner hospital names the implant brand, type and size, and you can ask the surgeon why they suggest that implant. Check that the brand is approved by the medical-device regulator where you live. After surgery, ask for the implant details, such as the product and lot numbers, usually recorded on an implant card, and keep them safely, as a doctor at home may need them later. Breast implants are not lifetime devices and may need replacing in future, so these records matter.
I had a blood clot in my leg after my second pregnancy. Can I still have a mommy makeover, or is that too dangerous?
Possibly, but only after careful assessment. A previous blood clot raises the risk of another, and a long combined operation and a long flight home add to it. Surgery is not a good idea while that history has not been assessed. The anaesthetic assessment includes a check of your clot risk, and the surgeon may ask for blood tests or a specialist’s opinion at home first, plan blood-clot prevention around surgery, or suggest two shorter stages instead of one long operation. Send your medical records about the clot with your photos for review.
What if my tummy tuck scar opens or gets infected after I’m back home in Ireland? Who looks after it?
Contact your coordinator straight away with photos; they pass them to the partner surgeon, who advises on what to do. A small area where the wound opens slightly can happen and often heals with dressings, which a GP or practice nurse at home can usually manage. Signs of infection, such as fever, discharge, increasing redness or sudden swelling on one side, need prompt medical review where you are. Before you travel, let your GP know about your plans, and ask what your written plan covers if further treatment is needed.
What does a Mommy Makeover trip to Istanbul look like?
- 1
Before travel – Photos & surgeon review
You send photos of your abdomen and breasts, your pregnancy and weight history, medical history and a list of your medication. A partner plastic surgeon reviews them, and you receive a written plan, including whether one or two stages is advised, and an itemised quote before you book anything.
- 2
Day 1 – Arrival & consultation
After an airport transfer to your hotel, the surgeon examines you, confirms which procedures will be combined, explains where the scars will sit and, for implants, discusses sizing. Blood tests and an anaesthetic assessment follow, including a check of your blood-clot risk, before you sign the consent form.
- 3
Day 2 – Surgery & hospital stay
A mommy makeover usually takes 3–6 hours under general anaesthesia, depending on the procedures combined. You stay 1–2 nights in hospital, wear a compression garment and support bra, may have drains, and are helped to get up and walk early to lower the risk of blood clots.
- 4
Days 3–14 – Check-ups & flying home
You rest at the hotel and attend wound checks, and drains are removed once fluid output falls. After a long combined operation, surgeons usually advise waiting at least a week before flying and recommend compression stockings and moving around during the flight; your surgeon confirms when you are fit to fly.
What is recovery like after Mommy Makeover?
Recovery after a mommy makeover is gradual and more demanding than after a single procedure, so arrange help at home before you travel. In the first week you walk slightly bent forward to protect the abdominal wound, sleep with your back raised and knees bent, and get up and walk regularly to reduce the risk of blood clots. Drains, if used, are usually removed after a few days. You wear a compression garment and a support bra day and night, usually for around 6 weeks. Desk work is usually possible after about 2–4 weeks. Avoid lifting anything heavy, including young children, as well as abdominal and upper-body exercise and strenuous activity, for at least 6 weeks or until your surgeon agrees. Swelling, numbness of the lower abdomen and tiredness are common and settle over several months; breast implants also take months to settle. Scars on the abdomen and breasts fade over a year or more. Contact the surgeon promptly about fever, wound discharge, sudden swelling on one side, calf pain or breathlessness.
Mommy Makeover in Turkey: how much does it cost?
The price of a mommy makeover in Turkey depends mainly on which procedures are combined – the type of tummy tuck, breast augmentation, a lift or both, and the number of liposuction areas – and on whether it is done in one operation or two stages. Any implant brand and type, the partner surgeon and hospital, and nights in hospital and in the hotel also affect the total. Treatment in Turkey often costs less than private treatment in countries such as the US, Canada, the UK and much of Western Europe, mainly because of lower operating costs, but price should never be the only reason to choose a surgeon. With Med World Türkiye, a partner plastic surgeon first reviews your photos and medical history; you then receive a written, itemised quote from the partner hospital before you book anything.
What your written quote itemises
- Surgeon and anaesthesia fees for each procedure
- Implant brand, type and size, if used
- Hospital nights, operating theatre and pre-operative tests
- Compression garment, support bra, dressings and medication
- Hotel accommodation and airport transfers, if requested
- Interpreter and remote aftercare follow-up
Med World Türkiye does not publish a price list. Every price comes from a written, itemised quote issued by the partner hospital after a surgeon has reviewed your photos, scans or medical records.
Mommy Makeover: frequently asked questions
How much does a mommy makeover cost in Turkey?
The cost of a mommy makeover in Turkey depends on which procedures are combined, such as the type of tummy tuck, breast augmentation or a lift and any liposuction, whether it is done in one or two stages, any implant brand and type, the partner surgeon and hospital, and nights in hospital and in the hotel. The surgeon review is free: a partner plastic surgeon reviews your photos and medical history, and you then receive a written, itemised quote before you book anything.
Is a mommy makeover in Turkey safe?
A mommy makeover in Turkey can be safe when it is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon in an accredited hospital, with proper anaesthetic care, blood-clot prevention and a sensible limit on total operating time. Med World Türkiye works with partner surgeons in JCI-accredited hospitals. Combining procedures makes surgery longer, and risks include bleeding, infection, seroma, wound-healing problems, poor scarring, implant problems, numbness and blood clots. Your surgeon explains these before you consent.
How long should I stay in Istanbul for a mommy makeover?
Plan to stay in Istanbul for about 10–14 days for a mommy makeover. This allows for the consultation, surgery with 1–2 nights in hospital, drain removal and wound checks before your surgeon confirms you are fit to fly. A longer combined operation or slower healing can mean a longer stay, so a flexible return ticket is sensible. If the plan is staged, each stage is a separate trip.
How long is the recovery after a mommy makeover?
Most people return to desk work after about 2–4 weeks, but recovery is harder than after a single procedure. You wear a compression garment and support bra, usually for around 6 weeks, and should avoid heavy lifting, including lifting young children, and strenuous exercise for at least 6 weeks or until your surgeon agrees. Swelling and tiredness settle over several months, so arrange help at home before you travel.
How long do mommy makeover results last?
The results of a mommy makeover are long-lasting if your weight stays stable: removed skin and fat do not grow back, and repaired stomach muscles usually stay tighter. However, a future pregnancy or significant weight gain can stretch the skin and change the breasts again, and the body continues to age naturally. Breast implants are not lifetime devices and may need replacing in future. The final shape is usually visible after several months.
Is it better to have a mommy makeover in one or two stages?
It depends on your health and the procedures involved. One operation means one anaesthetic, one trip and one main recovery, but a longer operation raises the risk of blood clots and other complications. Two stages, for example the abdomen first and the breasts some months later, mean shorter operations but two trips and two recoveries. Your surgeon recommends one or two stages after reviewing your photos and medical history.
Will a mommy makeover leave scars, and is it painful?
Yes, there are scars: a tummy tuck leaves a low scar across the abdomen, usually covered by underwear, and a breast lift adds scars around the areola and often down to the crease. Scars fade over a year or more but do not disappear. You are under general anaesthesia during surgery, and afterwards soreness and tightness, especially across the abdomen, are common for the first weeks; pain relief helps, and your surgeon explains what to expect.
How do I choose a surgeon in Turkey I can trust for a mommy makeover?
A mommy makeover combines several operations, so choose a board-certified plastic surgeon who performs combined breast and abdominal surgery regularly, in an accredited hospital with an anaesthetist and overnight care. Ask which procedures they would combine, how long the operation would last and when they would split it into two stages to keep you safer. A careful surgeon asks about your health, pregnancies and plans for more children before agreeing. Through Med World Türkiye, your written plan names the partner surgeon and hospital and lists every procedure included.
Is a mommy makeover covered by health insurance?
Usually not. A mommy makeover is cosmetic surgery, and public health systems and health insurers generally do not pay for cosmetic procedures; in the UK, for example, the NHS describes a tummy tuck as cosmetic surgery that is not usually available on the NHS. A procedure done for a medical reason may be assessed differently, so ask your own insurer or doctor before you travel. When you have surgery privately in Istanbul, you pay the partner hospital according to its written quote, and it is worth checking what your travel insurance covers.
